The Sales Manager - Expansions is responsible for informing, adapting and executing Sokowatch’s customer growth strategy for the new warehouse. For each new market, the Sales Manager conducts market research, develops go-to-market strategies, builds customer relationships, identifies new business opportunities, and trains and builds a growth team to support both unassisted and assisted orders models.

Reporting into: Head of Expansions Manager

Location: East Africa with travel across the continent 80% of the time

Key Responsibilities

  • Curate customer insight, by blending data and market surveys with a deep understanding of user needs, habits, and perceptions.
  • Leverage customer insights to drive optimization across Sales, Marketing, Partnerships, Procurement, and Product development.
  • Design, execute and follow through a Route to Market strategy for the new warehouse.
  • Identifying main routes, mapping sales teams and targets to these routes
  • Developing and implementing sales strategies, client service and retention plans, and analyzing sales data to inform or update marketing strategies.
  • Assist the marketing team with drafting business plans, sales pitches, presentations, reference material, and other documents as required
  • Train and motivate the Field Sales, Customer Growth and Retention teams for performance in relation to the targets set and build a winning spirit within the team


  • Degree in a relevant field such as Sales & Marketing, Finance or Communications with experience working with corporate marketing or sales departments
  • Strong selling, negotiating and consulting skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate accurately, clearly, and effectively
  • Must love working with people and cross-cultural teams
  • You are highly goal-oriented, assertive and a hands-on, problem solver.
  • Willingness to travel for work within the continent
  • Working knowledge of French or Portuguese language is an added advantage
