Role: Head of Product-East Africa

Sokowatch is seeking a very experienced, data-driven & people focused product management professional with an extensive background in managing the development of complex technical products with teams of product managers, designers, product marketing managers and support engineers.

This role will be reporting directly to the Global Head of Product.


This role will be ideally based out of one of our offices in

  • Nairobi, Kenya (HQ)
  • Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
  • Kampala, Uganda
  • Kigali, Rwanda
  • Bangalore, India

This role may also be remote as long as the time zone difference to East Africa is not impractical.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of the product vision and strategy for several products from digital storefront & payments to financial services solutions
  • Lead technical customer support to provide exceptional assistance to our customers and stakeholders when technical issues occur and are escalated
  • Oversee product marketing and training efforts to ensure successful technology adoption as well as
  • Guide qualitative and quantitative research in form of in-depth stakeholder interviews and structured data analysis to determine system requirements
  • Prepare meticulous make-or-buy analyses for key technology implementations
  • Coach and train product managers in all aspects of the agile product development process and Sokowatch’s own product development framework.
  • Run a tight ship on all teams’ sprint execution in collaboration with engineering management
  • Communicate & coordinate diligently with technology stakeholders within the company
  • Plan and orchestrate feature releases in collaboration with engineering
  • Measure & report success on implementations


The ideal candidate has ≥6 years of experience in designing & implementing as well as overseeing teams of several product professionals in a highly technical environment and possesses the following skills & traits

  • Expert in agile product management practices and tools
  • Empathetic leader with great people skills to create buy-in and support direct reports in their personal and professional development
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Systemic thinker conversant with reading ERDs and designing architecture diagrams and data models
  • In-depth knowledge of fundamental supply chain processes and key accounting principles
  • Diligent and forthcoming collaborator across multi-disciplinary teams
